Yahsat has chosen Airbus to build Thuraya's next generation network. The new 4-NGS satellite equipment is scheduled for operation sometime in 2024 and will deliver improved Thuraya capacity and coverage across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. The project will include a complete overhaul of Thuraya's ground-based and space-based systems. The goal is to expand from Thuraya's core strength as a mobile satellite service with new future capabilities for IoT, data, and maritime. Thuraya expects to continue to support all of its existing products and services.
